Underemployment

While there is no national consensus on the definition for underemployment, this is a data element that business and economic development professionals identify as critical in quantifying the potential workforce pool as they make plant location and expansion decisions.  These data were produced through self-reported information through a household survey and data modeling using US Census and other official information.

For the purposes of our survey, the researchers include the following workforce classifications:
                 1) Unemployment
                 2) Part Time Workers who want to work Full Time
                 3) Workers who are Underemployed

As estimates, they are subject to sampling error and measurement error, and may not fully reflect local conditions in any specific county.
